One of my goals for my new business is to try to sell at some local craft shows and fairs. It’s a little overwhelming for me, because I’ve never done anything like it before, but I do think it’d be an incredible experience to be surrounded by other creative vendors, and get to know some neighbors with similar interests.
The idea is great and all, but applying is scary for me. I fear rejection, and feel inadequate. I thought all of the silly efforts to feel accepted by other people would end the day I graduated high school, but I suppose that’s not just an adolescent characteristic, it’s a human one – to display our best, in hopes that someone accepts it.
The trick is to use this as motivation, without letting the opinions of others steer us, I suppose. Have you ever felt this way? How do you stay confident and true to yourself?
This pleases me. And yes, I have felt that very same way. You’re right, it’s a human characteristic. But luckily you have a product that is so good it will sell itself so you won’t have to do much talking =)
This pleases me. You’re awesome. In every way. Thanks for the sweet note.
You will do great!
Thanks! It’s worth trying, for sure :)
Cousin! If you ever have any questions about selling locally at markets or boutiques I’d love to try and help answer them. Over the last couple years I have worked up to doing more and more shows. I actually really love it, and I think summer is a good time because their seems to be more shows. Anyways I would say to at least try, and no matter what stay positive. The first 3 times I applied to the Beehive Bazaar I didn’t get it, then once I got in it gave me confidence to try other shows because I knew the Beehive Bazaar was exclusive and picky about who they let in. With that said I’ve also applied to another show that usually accepts me and then the last time I applied they didn’t accept me. So just know sometimes it’s a game you have to play. The hardest thing for me has been cop cat artists, so I have to keep staying unique and current, although I don’t think you will have that problem because your work is already so unique! Let me know how it goes! You are just too amazing for words ;)
I needed to hear that! Thank you Cait.
